Mind-Body-Spirit: Character, Honor, and being a true Martial Artist

Updated: Sep 8, 2023

"Knowledge will give you power, but character respect.'

- Bruce Lee

For the Scriptures say, “If you want to enjoy life and see many happy days, keep your tongue from speaking evil and your lips from telling lies. Turn away from evil and do good. Search for peace, and work to maintain it. The eyes of the Lord watch over those who do right, and his ears are open to their prayers. But the Lord turns his face against those who do evil.”

1 Peter 3:10-12

Bushido, Wu Te (Kung Fu's morality code), the Knight's Code of Chivalry...

There is MUCH more to being a real Martial Artist, a true Warrior, than just fighting. You can be a good fighter, even a great fighter, and still not be a martial artist.

To be a true martial artist, a person must strive to be a person of character, a person of honor.

This doesn't mean perfect, we're all human and all make mistakes, but a martial artist's goal is be to be a person of character, a person that makes the world around them a better place.

A good name [earned by honorable behavior, godly wisdom, moral courage, and personal integrity] is more desirable than great riches; And favor is better than silver and gold.

Proverbs 22:1
